Palazzo Artemide, a historic hotel in Ortygia, is housed in an ancient late 19th century building adjacent to the Cathedral, the center of the city of Syracuse and a masterpiece of Sicilian Baroque. The hotel, founded in 1880, is nestled between the Cathedral and the Archbishopric and overlooks Piazza Minerva, which continues Piazza Duomo. It is located in via Roma, the most central street of Syracuse. The hotel has a strong Sicilian character, with the same limestone used for Greek temples and Baroque palaces, the traditional 'secret' courtyards inherited from Arab architecture, the small roof garden, the balconies present in all the rooms and the beautiful tuff dammuso vaults of the restaurant.
