Located just four miles from Kos Town, Agios Fokas in Greece is a fantastic beach which partly consists of black sand and pebbles with the rest being luxurious white sand. Although it is less frequented than other beaches on the island, it is still popular for luxury holidays in peak season, with one of its attractions being that it is partly a nudist beach. There is just one hotel located in the immediate area – The Michaelangelo Hotel and Spa – and this provides good five-star accommodation with excellent service, dedicated staff and fabulous food. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in Kos Town, with a regular bus service available, and the nightlife in the town is excellent.
Things to do
As well as partying on the beach (with or without clothing), swimming and water sports, there is plenty to eat and drink at Agios Fokas, with at least one beach bar open to the public. Nearby Kos provides great holiday activities and entertainment, from cruises out to the surrounding islands of the archipelago to mountain biking to scuba diving, snorkelling and other water sports. For those who like a little culture on their holiday, Kos Town Castle was built by the Knights Templar. The Romans left their indelible mark on the town with the Odeon (amphitheatre ruins, not a cinema) and there is also a very good archaeological museum, with exhibits including beautiful mosaics and marble Roman statues. The hot springs at Thermes are just one mile away; they can be found in a rock pool at the end of a beach known as Bubble Beach.
