The Pestana Douro Riverside is located in the premises of a former soap and candle factory. The large brick chimney that stands in front of the reception is a visible reminder of its history. The hotel thus combines the most modern technology with the heritage of a historic factory.
Inspired by the aromas of floral soaps once produced here, each floor is dedicated to the scent and color of the flowers that identifies it: lavender, jasmine, orange blossom, rose, cherry blossom, chamomile, geranium and lily. All rooms are equipped with wi-fi, USB inputs, air conditioning, among other facilities.

Most rooms and suites have a balcony overlooking the Douro. The décor is inspired by the history of the location, a former factory of aromatic soaps, with botanical and floral references. Rooms are equipped with LCD TV, free Wi-Fi and modern bathrooms, ensuring a comfortable and contemporary atmosphere.
SERVICES AND RESTAURANTS
The Congress Center includes 8 meeting rooms, 5 of which are illuminated by natural light overlooking the Douro River and 3 rooms are interior. It has a total event area (indoor and outdoor) of 2500 sq. meters.
The Grill Restaurant takes advantage of the proximity to the river and the beautiful landscape to enhance the richness of flavors and the balance of ingredients. The service is complemented by a rooftop bar and an all-day dining gastro bar.
DESTINATION AND LOCATION
Pestana Douro Riverside is located next to the Pestana Palácio do Freixo, just 4 km from Porto's historic center, 21 km from Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport and 2km from Campanhã train station, providing quick and easy access to and from the Hotel. Opposite the hotel, there are 7km-long walkways that follow the course of the Douro River, where you can find gardens, cycling paths and areas to relax.

HISTORY
The building where the Pestana Douro Riverside is located today, results from the conversion of a historical factory in the Portuguese industrial panorama, built in 1888. The large chimney next to the reception is one of the living testimonies of this past. Through different administrations (Monteiro Santos & Companhia, Companhia Fabril do Douro, Companhia Alliança Fabril, CUF and Floral) lasting over a century, the factory produced candles, soap and vegetable oils, with an interregnum of 15 years for adaptation works.
Previously the space was used for various purposes until it was deactivated and finally adapted to this tourist project – the Pestana Douro Hotel.
