The charming four-star plus hotel, Quinta Bela Sao Tiago, was originally a traditional Madeiran manor house built in 1834. It became the residence of an important family in what was one of the noblest districts of Funchal in the late 19th century.

Although the original building has been added to, the architectural splendour can still be appreciated.
